(Published in The Shri Ram School Magazine in 2020)
The world is a melodious song
Pleasant and even alluring
With a subtle beauty that won’t last long
If its euphony no one is ensuring.
Oh, when tragedy struck, and catastrophes made their way
Simple acts of apathy and nonchalance
Rendered discordant notes in its musical lay
Not a spark of hope could perfect this imbalance.
Abiding by rules ‘twas never quite elating
But no other choices did remain
On thin ice the world today is skating
Everyday enhancing the inglorious strain.
As a clarion call rang out to the world
A chance for the planet to heal emerged
Seeking a harmony that was last unfurled
Before man came on earth and nature surged.
Together we can get rid of such crowns forever
But if we can be one people, one nation
Ensuring that it infiltrates our lives never
Pandemic you may be, but we are not ready for damnation!
