Unassailable, Unshackled India

It sways there with pride, basking in the sunshine of glory

Rejoicing in the gentle breeze, revelling, and aspiring

But behind every smile, there’s an enigma, a story

And the one it tells is heart-breaking, yet inspiring 

Surreptitiously concealed neath saffron’ s splendour 

Are tales of valour, sacrifice, indomitable spirit, unseen

Flawless white of peace juxtaposes the bloodstains that were rendered

Of faith and chivalry, we are reminded, on beholding the virescent green

The chakra of blue symbolizes the relentless pursuit

Of atma-shakti and resolve to fulfil our destiny, of what we can be

On this Independence Day, to our dauntless freedom fighters, we salute

For our autonomy and of lives unshackled, liberated, free
